Twenty years experience in the Canadian Fine Art Appraisal Business

Lisa Christensen has built her deep knowledge of Canadian art through her extensive experience in the field, most recently as a Corporate Curator, as well as having been the Director of Heffel Fine Art Auction House's Calgary Office, Curator of Art at Calgary's Glenbow Museum and Curator of Art at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in Banff. She is also an Independent Curator, Freelance Researcher and Writer, and an Award-Winning Author.

Expert in a wide range of Canadian Art

As a Calgary-based expert in the art of Alberta and western Canada, I am also very experienced with  works by Emily Carr, Tom Thomson, Lawren Harris and the Group of Seven. I am also able to appraise Historical and Contemporary Art for insurance or other purposes.


I appraise paintings, prints and drawings, photography, sculpture and out-of-print Canadian Art books.


Sorry, I do not appraise decorative arts, silver, china, furniture, antiques, coins, jewelry, sports or other memorabilia, coins and currency, posters or toys.

Confidential and Completely Private

Canadian Privacy Laws apply to and are firmly respected with regard to your appraisal. I am not affiliated with any auction house or dealer, and will treat both you and the information regarding your collection with iron clad confidentiality. You will not be approached to sell or otherwise divest your art. 

Arrange for an Appraisal

Please include a photo, back and front, and a detail shot of the signature. Please state the dimensions and media of your artwork. The more you can tell me about your art the better. Where did you get it? What do you know about it? What do you think it's worth? Have you ever had it appraised before?

Appraisals can be conducted both in person and  online, with in-person follow-up in Calgary and the surrounding region as required. Please contact me to to discuss your options.

$150.00 per work plus GST (FMV or Insurance)

All other types of appraisal fees are available by quote.

Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board Appraisals minimum charge $1000.00 plus GST.
